Showtime for Yara UK

The last two months have seen the passing of two of the biggest agricultural events in the UK. First in May was Grassland & Muck, for which Yara were partners, followed by the Cereals event in June.

As partners of Grassland & Muck, the Yara stand was situated right at the entrance and farmers were welcomed to discuss topics with Yara representatives such as the costs of inputs as well as the results of a recent UK grassland survey, which highlighted that 100% of samples taken were deficient in Selenium. The majority of the 12,500 farmers who attended the event may not have come to discuss fertilizer, however the Yara branding and presence helped with what was an excellent couple of days.

The Cereals event, this year held in Lincolnshire, is one of largest arable events in Europe with 23,900 flooding through the entrance gates over the two days. Again the main theme on the Yara stand centred around the economics of fertilizer, with farmers resigned to the idea of increased input prices and therefore looking at how to react for the coming season.

As has increasingly become the case at these types of shows the N Sensor was a hot topic, with several orders being taken over the two days. The morning of the first day gave an opportunity for Yara to hold a press briefing where the economics of fertilizer along with the recent work into selenium enrichment of wheat for bread and the new calibration for the N Sensor were presented to the journalists in attendance.
